Biosecurity and NAIT – What You Should Do


The continuing spread of M. bovis has highlighted the critical importance of biosecurity in our industry. Do you know how to protect your business from biosecurity threats? At this session:
• Learn about M. bovis: the disease, its signs and how it affects stock.
• Listen to first-hand experiences from Keith Christensen, a vet who dealt with the foot and mouth outbreak in the UK.
Gray Begley, DairyNZ will talk about biosecurity practices you can implement on your farm.
Katrina Daysh,OSPRI will give you the low-down on how to manage your NAIT and TBfree obligations.

Riparian Planting - Grow Your Own


Multi-BFEA winners Paul and Lisa Charmley are passionate about farming sustainably while still running a profitable business. The Charmleys have retired land, and carried out riparian planting along their seven kilometres of waterways with plants Lisa propagates herself. Lisa Charmley will talk about:
• Riparian planting, what the Charmleys have done on their farm.
• How she grows her own plants. What are the pros and cons? Is the effort worthwhile?

Free event, all welcome. Morning tea and lunch provided.
