Lameness – stop that hop

Lameness is a complex problem with many contributing factors. Neil Chesterton, lameness expert, will explain how to tackle lameness, and identify and manage the risks, which include infrastructure and stock management factors. His lively presentation looks at the issue from multiple angles, and even the most experienced farmers will learn something new.

Getting the dirt on soil

How much information can you get out of a soil test? Quite a bit it turns out! Soil tests can tell you about your soil’s acidity or alkalinity, its plant macro-nutrient levels, its capacity to store positively and negatively charged molecules, and its organic matter content. Grant Gillard, Ballance Agri-Nutrients, will take you through interpreting your soil test results and what you can do with the information.

Also, he will talk about how to understand your nitrogen footprint – how do you manage nitrogen on farm? What are the key factors affecting nitrogen loss and what can you do to influence them?

Free event, all welcome. Morning tea and lunch provided.
